Here’s a photo of the Pole Creek wildfire now burning just outside of Sisters.
It reminds me of the time we took my sister and her husband for dinner at the Black Butte Ranch a few years ago. A wildfire was spreading very close to the restaurant, and the maitre’d warned us that we might be told to evacuate before we finished our dinner. Fortunately, the fire did not reach the restaurant, but an outdoor wedding next door was ruined. As Don Adams would say, “Missed it by THAT much!”
As you can imagine, the skies here are smoky, and the air smells of burning wood. One of the hazards of living in central Oregon.
